  1. During the holiday season, I always think of those who have lost someone important in their lives. Whether it was last week or many years ago, that gaping hole will feel deeper during the holidays. It just does.

One of my best friend's recommended Anderson Cooper's new podcast, "ALL THERE IS" on loss and grief, which was already on my list, but her endorsement catapulted it to the top. It's exceptional; raw, real and heartwarming all at once. Listening to it is like being wrapped in a virtual grieving blanket, the warmth is palpable and there are moments of laughter along the way.

One often feels alone in their pain, this makes it emphatically clear we are not.

  2. I must be honest; I've been struggling with my blog. I love to write, I also love to share secret sources, travel tips and obsessions.

So, I decided to pivot and re-introduce this blog to be content driven. Sure, sometimes it will be about furniture, lord knows I'm obsessed with it, but also fashion, food, places and spaces. And, anything else I endorse and think you'll love.

So, stay tuned, I've got a lot to say.

  3. As we gather for Thanksgiving, gratitude will be front and center. The world is predictably spinning on its axis but it's also fraught with turmoil. I find myself very reflective around the holidays and thankfully, always end up grateful (well, mostly anyway).

In what has become an annual tradition, Carl and I donate turkey dinners to the West Side Campaign Against Hunger, hopefully helping other families enjoy one another with a hearty meal and a sense of pride.

Wishing all of you a happy, meaningful Thanksgiving.

  4. What in the world happened to all our patience? I don't want to date myself, but I remember busy signals. Yes, the repetitive sound that bellowed in one's ear when calling someone already on the line. You had to wait, and then call back, and often, wait longer. And, yes, the phone was attached to the wall.

These days, it's all about GETTING IT NOW, SAYING IT NOW, DOING IT NOW. NOW, NOW, NOW.

Which brings me to our Quick Ship program. Choose a frame, including sofas, beds, chairs and more, select one of 12 fabrics and no, you won't get it now, but it will ship in 3 weeks. Pretty good, right?

  5. So, as you know Greece was the word this summer. And, I'm sure you also know, it's the summer of lost bags. Two of our friend's bags were lost and one has yet to be found. 6 weeks later.

All the above has led me back to exclusively carry-on, which years ago was my standard move. I've also purchased Apple Air Tags and better luggage ID tags.

So, I started thinking about paring down and what can fit where, both in my closet and in design. Which brought me to small bedside tables, of which we have many. Embracing the movement towards less, our little 18" wide beauties nail both form and function. Whether you want a smaller piece due to scale of the room, or you just don't need as much storage, these hit the mark.

  6. Remember the days when you saddled up to the lunch counter at Lord & Taylor or for me, Hutzler's in Baltimore? I have visceral memories of eating egg salad sandwiches with potato chips, tea sandwiches and chicken salad with my grandmothers. There was something simple and chic about those days, way before L'Avenue took over Saks. You shopped and lunched without all the pretense but with the same amount of fun.

It got me thinking about counter seating and how our kitchens have been transformed to provide the island experience. Guests, kids and family members hang out while I cook and hand out samples along the way. It provides for a more casual experience that somehow feels different than eating at the table. All in, it's great and adds a certain flair.

So, with that in mind, we want there to be choices to satisfy all with both form and function as these seats are front, center and hopefully used frequently.
