WENDY'S STYLEFILE

“In imagining and creating our collection, I look to fashion, architecture and global culture for inspiration. I'm always striving for elegance in the home AND the closet.”

  1. EYE ON THE PRIZE

Traveling was a HUGE (as in gigantic) part of our previous life, and quite frankly, our rhythm, which may have seemed obvious to my friends & family but wasn't as obvious to me. I now realize when we touched down, my first thought was when was the next wheels up? Not the healthiest.

This year I tried to stay focused on the positive, another wards, keep my eye on the prize, which honestly was hard at times. That prize was to travel again (but with a different rhythm) to all the places we adore and inspire us endlessly (hello, Paris, Rome & Vietnam). I think it's now within striking distance, at least I'm starting to fantasize again.

I think we all learned to operate a bit differently, take stock in our blessings and take it down a notch, all the while working productively and creatively. Here are a few sofas & chairs I lounged in over the past year, they're comfy and welcoming, (and of course, super chic) and allow for hours of full-on travel research. I've also listed our favorite hotels in each spot, so you too can dream.

  2. CASHMERE DREAMING

We're seemingly on to sunnier days, both literally and figuratively, so it's time to step-up our fashion game. Nothing this season seems overly fussy, formal or festive but definitely more polished than our lazy uniforms of the past year. No more sweatpants for me, that's for sure. I rarely post about things other than Interlude, but this store and special woman deserve a shout out. In fact, I think I should do this more.

Which brings me to my go-to cashmere resource, Crimson, in Paris. Linda Wright, the owner, formal model and fashion icon hails from Texas and moved to Paris decades ago. She's an interesting combination of edge and glamour, perfect if you ask me. She's also beautiful, smart and unapologetic, with a spot-on French Texas vibe. She designs for a sophisticated, yet approachable woman. I rarely am able to buy just one piece (full disclosure, never) when visiting Crimson. The lovely women who work with Linda are talented stylists, super friendly and extraordinary salespeople, so there’s that too. Did I mention they ship to the states for free? It's a win, win.

Here are my favorite pieces, to be worn for years to come. Thanks, Linda.

  3. A NEW ATTITUDE & ALTITUDE

It seems as if things are lightening up, both on the ground and in the air. Travel, my biggest source of inspiration, is starting to be an option (thank G-d!). Although our vigilance must remain steadfast, both for ourselves and for society as a collective whole, we are all starting to play again. Dinners with friends abound, people stopping by for cocktails & conversation and the best, we're hugging again. Honestly, I tear up when I'm wrapped in my friend's or more poignantly, my mother's or father's arms.

So, it's time for new. New memories, new experiences and new décor. I've got you covered in that department with all our new designs debuting right now. From chic seats & marble cocktail tables to stunning game tables and sculptural benches… update now for all the company you'll be having over. Yay!

  4. NO KID HUNGRY, NOW OR EVER

One would think this conversation would not be taking place in the United States of America. Children need to eat. Healthy, consistently and with zero food insecurity. Kids should be wondering what their parent or adult will be putting on the table, not if there will be something on the table. But, that's not the way it is, and that my friends is what needs to change.

So, after al fresco drinks with friends, and a fabulous Labne Dip with Sizzled Scallions & Chile I made (thank you Alison Roman), Carl got to thinking. How can we help children during this pandemic and after? One of our friend's that night happened to be a noted restauranteur, so we reached out to ask him which charities he supported that fought diligently, passionately and without partisanship to help children receive food. His answer was, No Kid Hungry, a division of Share Our Strength. So, Carl and I went into high gear and now Interlude Home is proudly partnering with @NOKIDHUNGRY through 2021 to ensure kids get the food they need during this crisis, and in its aftermath.

Interlude Home will donate a percentage of all dining chair purchases* to NKH, enabling them to launch and improve programs that give all kids the healthy food they need to thrive; as well as give you the opportunity to add an additional contribution. Shop at interludehome.com, in our NYC, LA, Miami or High Point showrooms, contact your Sales Representative or click the link to just straight-up donate. NO CHILD SHOULD GO HUNGRY IN AMERICA. Please join us in the fight.

  5. February 2021 Bedside wonders

    BEDSIDE WONDERS

There's nothing like walking into your bedroom and feeling a sense of calm, especially now. When I design Carl's and my bedrooms, I try and channel environments where I've felt truly swept away, so often luxurious hotel rooms come to mind. And, right about now I'm missing traveling more than ever (ohhhh, Hotel Lutetia, The Upper House, Hotel de Russie,... how I miss you).

In that vein, it's important to kick-up every piece in the room, so everywhere you turn is beautiful, textured and tactile. Bedside Chests play a huge role, kind of like jewelry for the bed (our custom beds are extraordinary, but more on that later). Of course, some of you need more storage than others, and scale is clearly a determining factor, so we tried to design something for all, in our signature neutrals and mixed materials. So, crack open that can't put down book, stow your phone, lip balm & eye mask and take a deep breath*. Right about now, we all need a good night's sleep.

    *My personal faves:
Lip Balm: Lucas' PawPaw Lotion (amazing for lips, cuticles, cuts)
Book: We Keep The Dead Close by Becky Cooper
Eye Mask: Lunya Silk Eye Mask

  6. January 2021 Dream sweet

    DREAM SWEET

What we witnessed yesterday was a blemish on our great country. Shameful, hateful and dangerous.

It all made me want to crawl into bed and “get comfy cozy” as I say to the kids. We crave beauty and solace as a respite from the vitriol. Thankfully, we have new, stylish beds (in four different colorways!) to aide in the escapism.

All are available to ship in March, which thankfully is right around the corner. Here’s to better days, and certainly to a great night’s sleep.
